Humans! Non-humans! The Your Song Community Collaboration is finally here! I’ve got some tasty tracks lined up for you. Not just any tracks, either.
The evolution of hedgehog songs
The best hedgehog songs are right here, starting with Rufus Thomas. Thomas was a hip cat hog who wrote this song when he was strolling around the ‘hood singing nursery rhymes. Only the coolest of the cool can do something like that.
I know he meant to sing “hedgehog” instead of “dog”. The label must have told him “dog” fit better. Pffft.
“The Dog,” by Rufus Thomas, 1963:
.
The Stones jumped into the hedgehog scene by covering Rufus Thomas’ modified song, this one about walking the hedgehog. I figure “dog” was easier for Mick to sing that day.
Walking the hedgehog
“Walking the Dog,” performed by the Rolling Stones, 1965:
.
Oh, man, one of the best is up next — Hank Williams. He dreamed up this catchy tune when a big hedgehog pushed a little ol’ hedgehog out of the way because his woman kicked him out of the house. Chicks, man.
Move it on over little hedgehog, ’cause the big hog’s moving on in
“Move It On Over,” by Hank Williams, 1947:
.
The Cure wrote some great songs and they even styled their hair to look like hedgehog quills. Gotta love their good taste.
Shake, hedgehog shake
“Shake Dog Shake” by The Cure:
.
My man, Iggy! Love The Stooges. They know what it’s all about.
I wanna be your hedgeho-o-oggggg!!!!
Neighbors threatened to call the cops, said they heard shrieking. Hey, I don’t insult your singing.
“I Wanna Be Your Dog” by The Stooges, live:

I wanna be your hedgeho-o-oggggg!!!!

That last picture is awesome.
All you need is the devil horn sign and you are all set.

Oh man, I was rocking and partying all night! My air guitaring and drum soloing frenzy might have included devil horn signs, but like I told the cops, I can’t recall….

I would be curious to see the pair of handcuffs they slapped in you.
I bet that photo has caused thousands of ladies to swipe right on your Quiller account.

They used the riot cuff restraints, those double-locking numbers. They’re like those hinged flex cuffs but heavier duty, and fully adjustable.
Oh don’t you know it. Odd how that happens but who are we to argue? I had to uninstall from my phone. After I lined up the next couple dozen of course.

I can only assume they must have watched your Ninja series on Netflix.
I hear the ladies call you Boss Hog. I thought it must be about your cowboy hat, but maybe I don’t want to know.

I can’t escape that Ninja association!
Yeah, the Boss Hog thing is about the cowboy hat. I’m waiting for my custom cowboy boots to arrive from Mexico.

I remember reading about those boots.
The cobbler was a real peach.

Loved your article, especially the Rolling Stones, “Walking the Hedgehog”, a young Mick and his youthful band looked brilliant.

I went to see them, in Melbourne 1973 ?, at Kooyong Tennis Stadium, incredible Mick strutting his stuff for over 3 hours, in middle of our summer at 100’F

That must have been phenomenal! Did you write blog posts about it?

No haven’t but maybe I should one day, it was an interesting day, to say the least. In my Your Song Collaboration, I wrote about Leonard Cohen

Love Hank’s choice in music, brought many memories back. Hack is so cool, don’t tell him we don’t need to inflate his ego any larger than it is. Hack you heard not but alls good from me. I don’t know who was talking trash in my comments. We’ll save that question for another day. Peace Out!!!!!!!

So glad the music brought back some memories, M! I’ll be careful with my ego too. Sorry to hear about the problem on your site and hope it gets sorted soon.
Peace out!!! 🙂
